It was founded in May 1990 in Paris by Johannes Heister during the EGEE VI meeting of AEGEE-Europe. Les Anciens d'AEGEE is a secular, non-profit organisation not linked to any political party. Its purpose is to be the alumni organisation of AEGEE by giving aims to its members to stay in touch when their active AEGEE times are over and strengthen the links between AEGEE-alumni and the currently active generation of AEGEE members. Les Anciens d'AEGEE organises several events per year, informs about current developments in AEGEE and discusses European and professional matters. Les Anciens in itself is not a continuation of AEGEE - while AEGEE is focussing on organising local events, conferences, summer courses and international projects related to matters of European integration, Les Anciens d'AEGEE does not have a thematic approach. ==Membership== It is possible for former active members of AEGEE to apply for membership. An applicant can request to become member through the associations website www.anciens.org or by contacting the Secretary of Les Anciens d'AEGEE or by applying directly with the secretary or by being suggested by current members. Formally the applicant has to be recommended by two members.
